I’m certain that no matter how long I practice or how much I learn there will always be clinical situations that I am uncertain about. Just one of these presented itself a week or so ago during a recall exam.  So here are the details of the clinical situation, and I would love to hear different clinical solutions and what there risks and benefits are.

  • Male Patient 45 yo
  • Health History: WNL’s
  • Joint History: WNL’s
  • Muscle Exam: WNL’s
  • Cleft lip and palate repair as a child.
  • Caries Risk: High
  • Upper left lateral: Endo, Post Core, Crown, Recurrent Decay and Post & Crown are Mobile
  • Pt does not want a bridge due to concern over the long term health of abutments
  • Existing black triangle and angled crown on natural tooth.
