Trimming Silicone Bite Records

Silicone Bite Record of Preps

This video blog demonstrates an efficient and effective method for trimming silicone bite records. Accurate trimming of the records is critical in order to obtain an accurate mounting as the material more precisely impresses the anatomy of the teeth than the casts.

Key Points in this video:

  • Trim the labial and lingual sides of the silicone bite record to only have .5 to 1mm of overlap.
  • Remove the silicone that flowed in to the interproximal embrasures and occlusal anatomy.
  • Trim the silicone off that captured the soft tissue distal to the last tooth.
  • Trim silicone the same way on mandibular and maxillary sides.
