Bartley Stratton helps us look at using Twitter for social media marketing.
The past few blogs have focused on utilizing Facebook as a powerful Social Networking tool. Today we are shifting our attention to Twitter. According to a recent article on Twitter.com, they have more than 100 million monthly global actives. And half of their active users log in every day. “55% of our active users are active on mobile. We’ve seen tremendous growth with mobile – about 40% increase quarter over quarter.” Those are big numbers that show that they have a “sticky” base of active users that communicate on a daily basis.
Here are 4 Big-Time Reasons to Adopt Twitter:
1. Real Time News.
Twitter is superb at giving and getting up-to-date information. By using 140 characters it gets information out quickly and precisely. When Tim Tebow threw an 80-yard touchdown pass last month on the first play of overtime to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs, Twitter recorded 9,420 tweets per second.
2. Networking.
Twitter reaches a broad spectrum of people. This service allows you to focus on just your niche, local area of interest, or as broad as nearly any subject anywhere around the world. Building your brand is vital to any dental practice, but in most cases, building it on a local level is a key to success. Twitter is a tool that can help you do this. Growing your practice necessitates reaching out to others and connecting with them.
3. Personalizing Your Practice.
Since we cannot all have face time with each other, having active communication gives a sense of personalizing your practice. Getting back to someone online quickly via Twitter allows you to break down communication barriers and give real time feedback.
4. Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
SEO is the process of improving the visibility of a website and/or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or unpaid search results. Google uses hundreds of signals to determine how it should rank a website. These include site speed, inbound links to the site and title tags. When you tweet a link to your followers that helps your SEO. A high ranking web site brings you to the top of the page when someone is “searching” for you, or the dental services that you offer.
As a side note, Twitter can be linked to your Facebook page as well. An example of this would be the Chicago Mid-Winter Dental Meeting. Create a Facebook event with information. This can include the courses you’ll be attending, the things you plan on learning about and specialize in, staff members you’ll be bringing with you, etc. You can then link the event to your Twitter page and tweet it to your followers. While at the show you can tweet how the event is going and send updates to your fans.
In light of the upcoming Chicago Mid-Winter Dental Meeting, next time I’ll share with you Facebook events. We will discuss how to create events and how to best distribute the information to your fans.
