Here in the States we are celebrating Labor Day today. This holiday has come to symbolize the end of summer, so we celebrate with one last chance to barbecue and be outside before the weather changes. I had to go to wikipedia to find out the origins of the holiday, which is to celebrate the contribution of trade and labor organizations. It became a federal holiday in 1894, and was officially celebrated with a parade and speeches. The parades continue today, and we look forward to a day off from work and school, and a time to be together. This year my parents are in Phoenix from Florida, and we will all head over to Steve and Jane Ratcliff’s house to celebrate.
