One of the most frustrating aspects of practicing dentistry is managing unexpected patient outcomes, like the patient who comes in for a cleaning and calls the next day because their jaw has been popping ever since. How about the everyday experience of preparing a second molar for a full crown, being diligent about your depth cuts and occlusal reduction, and then being called back in by your assistant because there is no clearance to make the temporary? These experiences and many others can be predicted and managed by examining the patients joints, muscles and occlusion and identifying patients who present with a higher risk due to occlusal factors.

After attending this online seminar you will be able to:patient photo creating Mounted Cast

  • Identify and Interpret joint sounds
  • Evaluate the head and neck musculature
  • Recognize the signs of occlusal disease
  • Diagnose wear patterns
  • Describe the influence of occlusal contacts on the muscles of mastication
  • Assess the risk from occlusion based on clinical findings
  • Discuss the components of a functional exam

The seminar will be presented in three, ninety minute seminar sessions, followed by a thirty minute discussion and Q&A session. Registration reserves your seat in the live seminar as well as access to the recorded sessions for three months after the completion of the series. To receive your continuing education credit you will take an online quiz available for 90 days after the completion of the series.
